Artist - Mother - Nature Lover

The wonders of nature have always been my biggest inspiration. The beauty, strength, and resilience of the world around us is so magical that it deserves to be displayed. The purpose of my art is to share this in ways that our busy lives may not always allow us to see.

Creating magical worlds with mythical creatures gives us a sense of hope and wonder. Allows us to explore our dreams and imagine a world full of beauty that never fades and understanding that never wavers.

I'm Jennifer

My first gallery showing at the age of eight or nine is when, I believe, my love for art began. It was like a fire was set deep inside that kept growing bigger and bigger with every new technique I learned. I can remember that feeling still today. It made me look at the world differently. It caused me to slow down and really see everything around me. The colors, the shapes, the beauty.

Art is who I am

At this young age, I didn't fully comprehend that being an artist was a viable career option. It honestly took me way too long to realize this. But I knew that no matter what path I took, I would always be painting and drawing as much as I could. And that's exactly what I did. I drew on everything! All the time! And I still do. I didn't do this intentionally. Art is who I am. It's something I can't control. I truly have been an artist for as long as I can remember.

Childhood memories

Some of my best childhood memories involve art in one way or another. I was an only child raised by a single mother, so we spent a lot of time together. I remember sitting on the couch for hours doodling and playing the 'line game'. This is where my art education began, and I didn't even know it.

  • Adolescent me

In the beginning, pen and ink and painting wall murals were my go-to artistic outlets. I began creating fantasy realms filled with fairies and gnomes and made-up creatures. I loved exploring my imagination and creating worlds that didn't exist but in a way that looked like they could. My attention to detail has always resulted in realistic work.

  • Young adult me

I began freelancing, drawing people and pet portrait commissions and donating my time (as a photographer) to a local animal shelter and non-profit groups. While raising my family, I began to research art as a career. A lack of self-confidence is something that I have always struggled with and probably always will.

  • Adult me

Eventually I achieved one of my life goals of attending art school, earning a bachelor's degree in computer animation. I enjoyed my time there and learned a lot about digital methods, but traditional art will always be my first love. Colored pencil is one of my favorite mediums, but I also enjoy painting with acrylics and oils. Sometimes I combine all three.

So long story short

I'M JENNIFER. AN ARTIST, MOTHER, AND NATURE LOVER WITH A BIG IMAGINATION.
